Big Boi, half of the Grammy-winning hip-hop duo OutKast, was arrested for drug possession Sunday afternoon, as he attempted to disembark from a cruise ship in Miami.
Miami-Dade law enforcement sources tell TMZ that the 36-year-old rapper, whose real name is Antwan Andre Patton, underwent a border-patrol search at the Port Miami after a Customs official's drug-sniffing dog discovered his stash of ecstasy, MDMA powder (the main ingredient in ecstasy), and Viagra in his luggage. Big Boi did not have a prescription for his Viagra pills.
The rapper was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked at a Miami-Dade County Jail around 1:30 p.m. and then released on a $16,000 bond.
Although Big Boi's reps have yet to release a statement, he picked a notoriously tough state in which to be caught with drugs. According to Florida's controversial drug laws, all three possession counts are considered felonies (apparently even those "little blue pills"), with the paraphernalia an accompanying misdemeanor. The felony charges come with the possibility of up to five years in prison -- each.
Big Boi isn't the only "Big" rapper currently facing prison time: E! News reports that Big Sean, who recently scored an MTV Video Music Awards nomination for his hit song "My Last," was charged with sexual abuse last Thursday.
